Do tickets have to be purchased in advance? May I pay cash?

Tickets must be purchased in advance and are easily purchased through the “buy tickets” link on the website using debit or credit cards. Unfortunately we do not have a way to accept cash.

May I be added to a waiting list if a specific tour has been sold out?

Tours are offered multiple times weekly, however there is not a waiting list provided.

How much food is served on the tour?

Our tours provide enough food for a moderately sized lunch.  All tours provide a minimum of five tasting stops.  Most participants report feeling comfortably full at the conclusion of the tour.

How much walking is involved? Is it a fast-paced tour?

Tours generally cover 1.5 miles in three hours.  Tours which are not loop tours also include an additional walk (usually about .5 miles) at the end of the tour route.  Walking is interspersed with eating and history stops along the way.  During a three hour tour we walk a total of about an hour.

Do your tours have anything to offer someone living in the Twin Cities?

While people taking our tours are sometimes from other countries, states, or parts of Minnesota, many participants are local or have migrated to the metro area.  Locals report learning new information about their city as well as being introduced to restaurants they’ve never tried.

Does the tour guide accept gratuities?

Yes!  While not mandatory, gratuities are gratefully accepted.  Our guides are professionals and create a great experience for all attending.  Consider tipping generously if your guide has fulfilled your expectations.  Thank you.

What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies?

We are happy to accommodate dietary restrictions, preferences, allergies if known in advance.  When purchasing tickets you’ll be directed to comment on specific dietary needs.  Please specify the number of those in the group requiring a special diet and dietary specifics.  Our guides will follow up at the start of each tour to assure the dietary instructions are accurate and complete.

If visiting the Twin Cities, when is it best to take a tour?

It’s always a great time to take a food tour, but if visiting only for a few days, we recommend taking a tour early during your stay.  That way possible new destinations may be added to existing plans and coupons received during the tour may be redeemed.

Is it possible to take children on the tour? Do infants or young children require a ticket?

We do sell a youth priced ticket for ages 8 – 14. Contact us for cost (if any) and accommodations for children under 8. For any children attending, keep in mind the tour is 3 hours long and has a fair amount of listening and walking. We are happy to answer any questions you may have to help you determine if this is appropriate for your family.

Is the tour wheelchair and baby stroller accessible?

Our Historic Northeast Tour has a set of stairs in the route (an alternate route that is approximately 2 additional city blocks can be used) and one tasting location has single step to navigate.

Are gift certificates available?

Yes, gift certificates are always available and make great gifts.  They can be obtained through the Gift Certificate page.

Is it possible to plan a private tour?

Yes, private tours are available and are great for business groups, other tour groups, and private parties celebrating special events such as Weddings, Birthdays, and special interests.  A group tour request may be submitted through our Private Tour page.

Are beverages served during the tour?

Most locations have water available for tour participants. Depending on the tour, there may be beverage tastings included at some locations and participants may always purchase beverages at all locations if desired.  We also suggest carrying a container of water at least during hot weather.

Does the tour end at the starting point of the tour?

Our tour routes are not loop tours, therefore ending at a place other than where the tour begins.  Written return instructions are provided after tickets have been purchased and guides also provide maps and verbal instructions with options for return.

What types of foods are served on the tour?

We provide a list of tasting locations for each tour through our website.  Within the venues we use the food bites may change periodically, but generally represent the specialties of each restaurant.  Examples of food bites currently sampled:  cheeses, local sausages, pizza, salad, eastern European specialties, Greek, Tibetan, Nepali, Indian inspired food.

What happens other than sampling food?

While we love sharing food bites from various restaurants and specialty markets, the tours offer much more than food.  We strive to introduce participants to unique neighborhoods within the Twin Cities, highlighting history, culture, architecture and community.

Which restaurants are visted during the tour?

Specific locations are provided on the Tour Page of our website. Please note venues are subject to change.

Are tours offered in languages other than English?

No, currently the tours are given only in English.  Please contact us if you’d like to make arrangements for your own interpreter to join the tour.

What happens if the weather is inclement?

The tours are held rain or shine, except when conditions are potentially dangerous or impede the progress of the tour.  While there are bound to be days of rain, wind or heat, we will cancel and reschedule a tour if conditions are dangerous or extreme.  If we must cancel or stop a tour midway, tour participants may reschedule or be refunded if rescheduling is not possible.  Participants are advised to prepare for all weather conditions. (sunscreen, water, umbrella, jacket, etc.)

Are there bathrooms available during the tours?

Yes, there are public bathrooms available during the tour at many locations with time provided for use.

Are cameras allowed on tours?

Yes, photographs may be taken (and encouraged) during the tours, provided the tour experience is not disrupted for the other participants. And, feel free to email us or share your favorites on Facebook!

Is there parking near the tour meeting point?

Yes, there is metered and in some cases surface lot or ramp parking available for our tour routes.  Specific parking details are made available to all participants through a comprehensive confirmation email once tickets have been purchased.
